In his debut as a feature film director, David Byrne whimsically and affectionately pays homage to the mythical small Texas town of Virgil, which is populated by honest, if slightly eccentric people, living out their lives in innocent dignity. Avoiding the obvious and the outrageous, Byrne seeks to glorify the commonplace, and his keenly observed portrayals of local citizenry are endearingly comical and entertaining. This film also boasts nine songs performed by Talking Heads.
