APRIL IN PARIS

Synopsis:

Doris Day and Ray Bolger star as a chorus girl and a diplomat who meet and fall in love all because of a bureaucratic snafu. There's plenty of singing, dancing and romance when it's April in Paris. Brassy chorus girl Ethyl "Dynamite" Jackson (Day - Pillow Talk, The Pajama Game) receives an invitation -intended for theatre grand dame Ethyl Barrymore - to represent the United States at a Paris arts festival. And when low-level diplomat S. Winthrop Putnam (Bolger - The Wizard of Oz) informs Dynamite of his mistake, she does not take the rejection well. But the press learns that the U.S. has chosen Dynamite Jackson as a cultural ambassador, and headlines proclaim the decision as bold and innovative. Now, Jackson and Putnam are steaming to the continent together and smiling for the cameras... but even their anger will turn to love because it's April in Paris.
